Con Williams - Biography

Con Williams - Bronze Sculptor

Western and Wildlife Sculptor

Many of Con Williams' fondest memories are of growing up on a large cattle ranch in south-central British Columbia, Canada where his father was the cow boss.  Much of his early life was spent horseback, behind cattle or exploring what he would later recall as 'God's  Country'.  This is where Williams learned what it is to be a ranch cowboy... from getting up before dawn at cow camp, saddling the wrangle horse, bring in the remuda, calving, branding, and doctoring cattle as well as the far less 'romantic' parts of ranch life.

While still in high school, Con's family moved to Washington State where his mother and father raised 6 kids.  Rodeo was a big part of the Williams family and Con would find himself roping and riding broncs through high school and on into college at Casper, WY and Montana State University.  Williams would eventually earn his PRCA card as a saddle bronc rider.

Con always had a love for art and the great artists that created it, such as: Charlie Russell, Ed Boren and Will James.  Although, Williams did some pencil work throughout his lifetime, it was while working in a local bronze foundry he found his true medium, sculpture.

The cowboy and his way of life, is what truly inspires Con.  He has always had the greatest respect for those who make their living horseback.  It is with these men and women in mind that Williams creates his work, trying to capture their authenticity and character.

He currently resides in Banner, Wyoming with his wife, Sharon. Con's favorite things to do are hunting, fly fishing, golfing and spending as much time as he can with his family. Con and Sharon have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

Con's work has been accepted into numerous juried exhibits and is in private collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.  Con's work can be seen at his studio in Banner as well as Ballard's Fine Art Gallery in Sheridan, WY.
