CON WILLIAMS - Bronze
Sculptor
The bronzes created by sculptor Con Williams exemplify the spirit of the people and
animals that continue to shape the American West. Currently a
full-time artist and charter member of the Professional Rodeo
Cowboys Artist Association, Con says, "A good artist shapes with his heart,
and gives his sculptures a voice. And a good sculpture speaks long
after the artist is gone."
Uniting his
appreciation for wildlife and the Western lifestyle with his
artistic ability, Con has developed a style of sculpting that has
won an international following.
He has recently achieved the honor of supplying
Rodeo Trophy bronzes for six of the Calgary Stampede events during the years 2008-2013.
The sculpture competition is held once every five years. Each statue
depicts the rodeo event for which it will be the trophy. Eighteen
trophies will be awarded over the next five years at the Calgary
Stampede, and Con won six.
The Calgary Stampede is considered one of the premiere rodeos in the
world. It has been dubbed “the greatest outdoor show on earth” and
attracts more than one million visitors over its ten-day run.
